In addition, NEC is the MBIS solution provider for the State of Texas Department of Public Safety, which includes a repository for fingerprint, palm, and facial images that can be quickly and securely searched for investigative identification and authentication purposes. The devices listed in the Texas DIR contract work seamlessly with the State’s NEC system to allow local law enforcement agencies instant access to search the State’s massive repository of images.

Contract Specifics

Products and services available under this Contract are limited to the technology categories defined in Request for Offer DIR-CPO-TMP-441 for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Products and Services. At DIR’s sole discretion, Successful Respondent may incorporate changes or make additions to its product and service offerings, provided that any changes or additions must be within the scope of the RFO.

Computer Vision (CV)

CV pertains to a computer’s ability to identify and process information from images, including multi-dimensional data, video, and digital images.

Generate a purchase order made payable to NEC Corporation of America, and you must reference the DIR Contract Number DIR-CPO-5144 on your purchase order.

Email your purchase order and quote form to your designated vendor sales representative.

Important Requirement

NEC’s vendor contract number – Contract DIR-CPO-5144 – must be referenced when obtaining a quote or placing a purchase order.

Solution Warranty & Return Policies

  • NEC’s products may include up to a 1-year warranty, depending on the product and purchase type.
  • Defective hardware components that are still under warranty or under maintenance can be replaced or repaired at no additional cost through NEC’s RMA process

The following is a description of NEC’s step-by-step RMA process for biometric products for law enforcement and public safety agencies.

Ticket Initiation

The process begins with the agency submitting a support request to the NEC Support Desk via one of the following two methods:

Joint Troubleshooting

  • NEC contacts the agency.
  • The agency and NEC collaborate to identify and resolve the reported issue.

RMA Process

  • NEC determines if a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) is required. RMA replacement does not cover issues caused by accidental damage, unauthorized repair or modification, improper usage, or normal wear and tear.
  • NEC may request additional information from the agency, such as photos, return address, and serial number (SN).
  • If an RMA is required:
    • NEC will ship the replacement to the agency. NEC will cover these shipping costs.
    • The agency will ship the defective hardware to NEC. The agency will cover these shipping costs.
    • If NEC does not receive the defective hardware within 20 days, NEC will invoice the agency for the full cost of the replacement.

Installation

  • The agency receives and installs the replacement.
  • NEC can provide remote installation support if needed.
